Description
The first thing you notice about this knife is the handle. Made from natural deer antler, it keeps the texture, markings and irregular shape of the material, with heavy alpaca silver fittings at either end. The combination gives the knife a particularly substantial feel and makes every piece slightly different.
It is a traditional Argentine gaucho knife, but a rather striking one. The generous silverwork contrasts beautifully with the rougher surface of the antler without hiding what makes the material interesting in the first place.
The Schmieden 440 stainless steel blade is full tang, with a convex edge, and is available in 14 cm / 5.5 in and 20 cm / 7.8 in lengths. Each knife comes with a hand-cut and hand-sewn Argentine cowhide leather sheath.
Because the antler is natural, variations in color, texture and shape are expected. They are part of the character of each knife rather than something standardized from one piece to the next.
